Diego Alves is returning to Brazil.

On Sunday, Valencia CF announced that Los Che reached an agreement with Flamengo regarding the permanent transfer of Alves to the Mengao. According to Globo Esporte’s Bruno Giufrida, Fred Gomes, and Ivan Raupp, the transfer is valued at €300,000, which will be paid in installments.

Alves is reportedly in Ribeirao Preto, a municipality in Brazil, and his will to join Flamengo was fundamental. The Brazilian ‘keeper, a product of Clube Atletico Mineiro, will apparently undergo medical tests before putting pen to paper on a three-year contract with the Mengao. He will allegedly pocket R$ 500,000 per month and, wanting to play at the 2018 World Cup, sees the Rubro-Negro as a club where he can showcase his skills.

Alves joined Valencia from UD Almeria in 2011 and is leaving Europe having saved 25 of 52 penalty kicks. He stopped Cristiano Ronaldo three times and Lionel Messi once.

Alves was named to Brazil’s 24-man squad for two friendlies in June along with Weverton and Ederson. Alisson is the Selecao’s first-choice ‘keeper under Tite.
