Ukraine has turned to its all-time record goalscorer Andriy Shevchenko to oversee the national team’s latest era.

The former AC Milan striker has brought in former Rossoneri stalwarts Mauro Tassotti and Andrea Mulder, and ex-Dynamo Kyiv assistant Raul Riancho, to aid him in his first full-time management role.

Shevchenko signed a two-year deal, with the possibly of an extension for the same duration.

Under Mykhaylo Fomenko’s watch, the Yellow-Blue limped out of the Euro 2016 group stages courtesy of consecutive losses to Germany, Northern Ireland, and Poland. A particular aspect that may alert the incoming Shevchenko is his country went goalless in each tilt.

The 39-year-old was second in command for the tournament, but will now call the shots after being an overwhelmingly preferred candidate for the role.
