Tottenham has struck a new agreement with Marseille to sign winger Georges-Kevin NKoudou for an £11-million fee, according to Sky Sports’ Lyall Thomas, a little over a week after negotiations appeared to break down between the two clubs.

Tottenham’s Clinton NJie is expected to go the other way on a season-long loan.

The deal should be finalised in the coming days.

Several delays in the process had initially thrown the transfer in doubt.

NKoudou reportedly agreed to terms on a move to north London last month, but Marseille’s changes in the front office put off official confirmation.

Tottenham’s NJie was also waiting to receive his work permit to return in France, where he played previously with Lyon.

The Guardian’s Ed Aarons then said Tottenham’s attempt to sign the 21-year-old on a permanent transfer was on “the brink of collapse” following a disagreement in the structure of payments.

Spurs’ head of recruitment, Paul Mitchell, also decided to resign from his position at around the same time. Mitchell – who followed manager Mauricio Pochettino to Tottenham from Southampton in 2014 – was reportedly behind the push to sign NKoudou.

But it now appears he will arrive at White Hart Lane anyway.

NKoudou made 22 Ligue 1 starts last season, scoring five goals and registering another three assists as Marseille failed to finish in the top half of the table. He scored another eight goals and set up four others in just 12 Europa League appearances.
