“The Hoff” is coming to town.

Jeff Hoffman, the top pitching prospect in the Colorado Rockies organization, is expected to make his MLB debut Saturday against the Chicago Cubs, according to MLB.com’s Thomas Harding.

Selected in the first round of the 2014 draft by the Toronto Blue Jays, he was sent to the Rockies in the blockbuster deal that shipped shortstop Troy Tulowitzki north of the border last season.

Though his numbers don’t do him justice, Hoffman is a 6-foot-5 right-hander who has the ability to reach back and hit 99 mph with his fastball.

This season at Triple-A Albuquerque, the 23-year-old has a 4.02 ERA in 118 2/3 innings pitched, notching 124 strikeouts while surrendering 44 walks.

In his last two starts, he pitched nine scoreless innings while scattering just four hits and registering 13 punch outs. The third-ranked prospect in the Rockies organization, Hoffman ranks 41st overall in MLB’s top 100 Prospects.
