The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have released veteran safety Major Wright as part of the first round of roster cut downs, the team announced Sunday.

Wright played two years in Tampa Bay after landing with the club as a free agent in 2014. He started nine of his 21 appearances over that stretch, racking up 76 tackles and four passes defensed.

As a vested veteran, Wright will immediately become an unrestricted free agent.

Tampa Bay also released another 11 players in advance of Tuesday’s deadline, all of whom are subject to waivers.

That group includes defensive tackle Ishmaa’ily Kitchen, defensive end Martin Ifedi, running back Storm Johnson, defensive tackle Travis Britz, cornerback Daniel Davie, wide receiver Andre Davis, offensive lineman Taylor Fallin, linebacker Jeremiah George, safety Kimario McFadden, TE Tevin Westbrook, and punter Jacob Schum.
