The Denver Broncos are looking to trade punter Britton Colquitt as they hope to shed his $3.25-million contract ahead of the season, Mike Klis of reports.

The team reportedly asked the seven-year veteran to take a pay cut and have turned to rookie seventh-rounder Riley Dixon in recent preseason games in order to ready themselves for Colquitt’s exit.

Colquitt told Vic Lombardi of Altitude TV that he expects to be cut by Monday if the team decides to go with Dixon, but teams like the Minnesota Vikings, Arizona Cardinals, Carolina Panthers, and Chicago Bears could ante up a late-round draft pick in exchange for the veteran prior to that.

“We’ll see what God has planned,” Colquitt said of his situation. “God’s got me this far so I’m putting everything in his hands, and we don’t have control over anything, anyway.”

Colquitt ranked 21st in the league in net yard average per punt.
