One Oklahoma citizen can’t seem to get over the fact that Kevin Durant ditched the Thunder this summer to sign with the team’s dreaded rival, the 73-win Golden State Warriors.

Durant’s seemingly treacherous act has led resident Ryan Nazari to create an online petition to rename the city of Durant, Oklahoma (population: 15,586) – which isn’t even named after the four-time scoring champion – to Westbrook.

“Ladies and gentlemen, the great state of Oklahoma has been betrayed,” Nazari wrote in his petition. “As many of you know, Kevin Durant has left our state, torn out our hearts, and left our beloved Oklahoma City Thunder in depleted shape. All of this after even being offered a cabinet position for the State of Oklahoma. It is because of this heinous action that I believe the State of Oklahoma has a responsibility to change the name of the City of Durant to Westbrook, the man who is loyal, whom we believe in, and who will lead our team to glory.”

Guard Russell Westbrook committed to the franchise earlier in the month by agreeing to a three-year extension reportedly worth $85 million with a player option in the final year.

The petition, which has nearly 600 signatures as of Thursday evening, would be sent to Gov. Mary Fallin and mayor of Durant, Stewart Hoffman.

It appears Nazari’s love for his state and disdain for KD knows no bounds, as Edmond, Oklahoma – his city of residence – is nearly three hours away from Durant.
