Despite encountering turbulence along the way, the U.S. men’s basketball team is right where it expected to be after cruising into the gold-medal game.

The Serbians, by contrast, have put together a wonder tournament, and have also guaranteed themselves a medal. By all measures, they’re already a rousing success, but no one expects them to snap Team USA’s decade-long win streak.

Will the Balkan powerhouse be content with silver, though?

“No, never,” Serbian center Miroslav Raduljica told John Schuhmann of “We are Serbian.”

Raduljica isn’t just speaking from a point of national pride. Serbia nearly took down the mighty Americans in group play last week. Team USA’s unbeaten streak only remains intact on account of a last-second triple rimming out to preserve a 94-91 victory.

That result, along with their inspired play throughout the tournament, is giving Serbia confidence heading into Sunday’s final.

“We gave them a pretty good fight (last week),” Raduljica said. “(That) showed that they’re not unbeatable, and that we can play against them.”
