After playing a major role in Leicester City‘s promotion to the Premier League, Liam Moore is no longer needed at King Power Stadium.

On Saturday, Reading announced Moore put pen to paper on a four-year contract with the Royals, bringing an end to his time at Leicester.

Moore, 23, came through the ranks at Leicester and made his first-team debut for the Foxes in January 2012. When the club earned promotion to the Premier League after finishing sixth in the 2013-14 Championship, the English centre-back was at the heart of the achievement, making 30 appearances.

However, while Leicester conquered the Premier League in fairy tale fashion, Moore was on loan at Bristol City for the first half of the season.

“Liam is the type of defender who can play high up the pitch, because he has pace and he can cover distances quickly should the opposition play long balls over the top or try to get in behind the back-line,” Reading manager Jaap Stam said. “He is comfortable on the ball and can play it out from the back, he is an aggressive defender and good in one-on-one situations. I’m really pleased he has joined our squad at Reading.”

Moore marks Reading’s 10th signing of the summer transfer window.
