“I told you … I’m going to Sacramento, bro.”

Ty Lawson’s prediction may not have come true right away, but low and behold, the point guard has joined the Sacramento Kings, reportedly agreeing to a one-year contract.

It was during the 2015 NBA draft that a video of Lawson – then a member of the Denver Nuggets – was posted, as he watched the picks unfold while smoking a hookah. After the Nuggets selected fellow point guard Emmanuel Mudiay seventh overall, Lawson expected to end up with the Kings.

At the time, rumors had circulated that Lawson could be dealt to Sacramento for either the sixth pick (ultimately used on Willie Cauley-Stein), or as part of a package to acquire DeMarcus Cousins.

Denver wouldn’t pull the trigger on moving Lawson until weeks later, sending the troubled floor general to the Houston Rockets in a five-player trade that returned the likes of Pablo Prigioni and Nick Johnson to the Mile High City.

Lawson was eventually waived by the Rockets in a buyout agreement, before finishing the 2015-16 season with the Pacers.

Now he’s in Sacramento, bro.
