James Faulkner and Shaun Tait look forward to some fun in Mohali

Kings XI Punjab’s R Ashwin became the first captain to opt to bat in IPL 2018, against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Mohali. He felt his team would be better off setting a target against a formidable attack at a large ground.

While Kings XI made no changes, which meant Chris Gayle was retained after his 33-ball 63 against Chennai Super Kings on Sunday, Sunrisers swapped Billy Stanlake for a like-for-like replacement in England quick Chris Jordan.

Kings XI have won both their home games this season, and are currently third on the points table. Sunrisers are second with three wins in three matches, and they could displace Kolkata Knight Riders from the top with a win tonight.

Kings XI Punjab: 1 KL Rahul (wk), 2 Chris Gayle, 3 Mayank Agarwal, 4 Yuvraj Singh, 5 Aaron Finch, 6 Karun Nair, 7 R Ashwin (capt), 8 Barinder Sran, 9 Andrew Tye, 10 Mujeeb Ur Rahman, 11 Mohit Sharma

Sunrisers Hyderabad: 1 Wriddhiman Saha (wk), 2 Shikhar Dhawan, 3 Kane Williamson (capt), 4 Manish Pandey, 5 Deepak Hooda, 6 Yusuf Pathan, 7 Shakib Al Hasan, 8 Rashid Khan, 9 Bhuvneshwar Kumar, 10 Chris Jordan, 11 Siddarth Kaul
