New York Giants kicker Josh Brown received a one-game suspension earlier this week for a violation of the NFL’s personal conduct policy.

Specifics were not disclosed in the official announcement, but reports have revealed that Brown’s discipline stems from a 2015 domestic violence arrest.

According to an incident report obtained by the New York Daily News, Brown’s ex-wife, Molly, told police on the day of his arrest that he’d been violent with her on over 20 occasions.

Molly Brown also reportedly informed police of a previous protection order against her husband, and that the violence had started while she was pregnant with their daughter in 2009.

In his lone public comments on the matter, Brown expressed his displeasure with the suspension for what he characterized as a “moment.”

“This moment happened a year ago, the case was dropped five days after the moment happened, and we’ve moved forward with our lives at this point,” Brown told reporters Thursday. “While I’m not OK with the decision, I have to respect it. And so I look forward to a 15-game season and moving forward with my teammates.”

Brown will sit out New York’s season opener against the Dallas Cowboys, before being eligible to return against the New Orleans Saints in Week 2.
