Jay Cutler may not have the support of many Miami Dolphins fans, but that doesn’t mean Jarvis Landry isn’t in his corner

The Dolphins’ second-leading receiver vented some frustration to reporters Thursday regarding the way Cutler has been treated by the Dolphins faithful in recent weeks, defending his quarterback’s ability to lead the offense and blasting a portion of the fan base as being “embarassing,” according to Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk.

“Jay is our quarterback, and we stand by him,” Landry said. “We don’t buy into the fans – ‘Who do you want to play quarterback?’ I believe it’s disrespectful. A man who comes out here and works his butt off, for people to not understand what’s going on, or not to have even touched the field before … They don’t understand the situation. They just want to be on Twitter or start a damned chant. It’s embarrassing as a player to have fans like that. It’s embarrassing.”

The decision to go with Cutler over Matt Moore in the wake of Ryan Tannehill‘s season-ending injury was met with instant criticism, and the 34-year-old has done little to silence his critics, finding the endzone just three times so far this season while averaging just 156.5 passing yards through four games.

The Dolphins currently sit 2-2 on the year, so Cutler will need to string a few wins together if he hopes to turn the tide on fans’ treatment of him as a starter.
