San Diego Chargers defensive end Joey Bosa is putting the business side of football behind him and says there’s no animosity between him and the team over his extended holdout.

Bosa spoke to media for the first time since signing his rookie deal on Monday, and said he was not involved in negotiations but is glad an agreement was reached prior to the season.

“We came to a fair deal,” Bosa said. “There’s no animosity between any of us.”

On the question of when he’ll be able to suit up, Bosa says he’s been working out and is ready to play immediately despite being a rookie and mentally a step behind.

“I really didn’t do anything other than train,” Bosa said. ” … I didn’t think it was fair to guys if I took time off.

“This is the longest I’ve not played football in 12 years … I was doing everything I could to be ready when I showed up here.”

When asked about the ugly turn negotiations took in public, Bosa says he stayed away from it all by deleting his Facebook and Instagram accounts and turning off his phone.

As for his mom’s criticism of the Chargers franchise on Facebook, Bosa chalked it up to moms being moms.

“What do you expect from a mom?” Bosa said. “She wants what is best for me. … It was a dumb decision. Leave it to a mom to mess up like this.”
