At 5-foot-9, Isaiah Thomas is the shortest player in the NBA, but he’s not short of confidence.

The Boston Celtics point guard is willing to go up against anyone.

“Nobody can guard me so it doesn’t really matter,” he recently told Andy Gray of SI.

The 27-year-old gave credit to Celtics fans for supporting him, which only strengthened his belief in himself.

“They are diehard fans whether the team is good or bad and you don’t get a lot of cities like that,” he explained. “They showed me a lot of love. It changed how my career has gone the last year-and-a-half.”

Thomas played in all 82 games last season, finishing with averages of 22.2 points, 6.2 assists, three rebounds, and 1.1 steals, while earning his first All-Star nod.

While he rues the loss of Jared Sullinger and Evan Turner – who both left Boston in free agency – he’s excited about the team’s additions of Al Horford and Gerald Green, as well as the incoming rookies.

“We just need to put things together and hopefully have another great season,” he added.
