The Denver Broncos‘ Super Bowl-winning roster will be in the hands of Trevor Siemian.

The Broncos announced Monday that Siemian will be the starting quarterback to begin the 2016 season.

Head coach Gary Kubiak informed the team of the decision, bringing an end to the quarterback competition that stretched across the entire offseason and training camp.

Siemian beat out seven-year veteran Mark Sanchez and 2016 first-round pick Paxton Lynch for the job.

The 2015 seventh-round pick completed 27 of 43 attempts for 285 yards, adding a touchdown and two interceptions during the preseason.

Siemian doesn’t boast the physical talents of Sanchez or Lynch, but his experience in Kubiak’s system and strong ability in the short passing game likely propelled him to the top of the depth chart.

The decision puts Sanchez’s future with the Broncos in doubt. The team reportedly only owes the Philadelphia Eagles the conditional seventh-round pick traded for him if he’s on the roster.
