Biles to focus on Tokyo 2020 after 'a lot of vacations'

Simone Biles is putting her grueling training routine on hold after stealing the show in Rio de Janeiro.

Instead of immediately looking ahead to Tokyo 2020, Biles revealed that her preparations will have to wait, as she and the United States gymnastics team get some much deserved time off.

“2020 is very far away,” Biles told CNN’s Alisyn Camerota. “We just have to finish off the journey here in Rio. But once we go on a lot of vacations because I think we deserve it all, and have a little fun, we’ll get back to normal life once everything settles down and start training again.”

But Biles – who finished the games with four gold medals and a bronze – and the rest of her U.S. teammates won’t have much time to relax, as they get set to embark on a 36-city tour to give Americans a glimpse of their talents.

“We did a very good job representing everyone back home,” Biles added. “So I hope they’re all proud.”

The 2016 Kellogg’s Tour Of Gymnastics Champions begins September 15 in Spokane, Wash.

Biles could assume Aly Raisman’s current role as “grandma” of the U.S. gymnastics team when she competes in 2020 at the ripe old age of 23.
